摘要：A half a century ago, George Bergman introduced stunning machinery which would realise any commutative conical monoid as a K-theory of a ring. We discuss this machinery. Many combinatorial algebras constructed in the last 50 years, such as Leavitt path algebras and their generalisations, can be obtained from Bergman’s machinery.
