摘要：One interesting question in number theory is to determine whether an integer can be written as the sum of two rational cubes. Sylvester conjecture predicts that for every prime p congruent to 4, 7, 8 the answer is positive. This conjecture is quite open and only has some partial result in 4,7 case.

In this talk, I will introduce cubic sum problem's history and progress. I will also talk about my recent work on the 8 case of Sylvester conjecture which is the first general result and where the theory of singular moduli plays a role surprisingly.
