报告题目: Further properties of Hurwitz groups

摘要: In 1969 Macbeath described all Hurwitz groups among PSL(2,q).Studying further properties of the corresponding Hurwitz generators,we deal with the following question raised first by Holt and Plesken:for which n there is some q such that PSL(2,q) is a quotient of< X, Y : X^2=Y^3=(X,Y)^7=[X,Y]^n=1 > ? In my talk I'll show how this group-theoretic problem can be solved using some tools from number theory.
